Charlotte County Property Tax Exemption Information Website

 There are two types of ad valorem property taxes in Florida which are Real Estate Property and Tangible Personal Property. These tax statements are mailed out on or about November 1st of each year with the following discounts in effect for early payment:

• 4% if paid in November
• 3% if paid in December
• 2% if paid in January
• 1% if paid in February

Taxes become delinquent April 1st, at which time 3% interest plus advertising costs are added to the gross amount of the tax.

Driver License services can be performed at all three Tax Collector locations. Please note that road tests are ONLY performed at our Punta Gorda and Englewood locations by appointment only. To schedule a road test appointment please call (941)743-1350. The Murdock location is available only for written tests. Driver licenses will stop being issued at 4:45 pm.

CDL written testing and endorsement testing is available in the Tax Collectors office. Please call (941)743-1350 to schedule an appointment for testing. Hazmat testing is available at the State Driver License office in Sarasota at 601 South Pompano Avenue, Sarasota FL 34237. The phone number for their office is (941)361-6222.

Florida is leading the nation in an effort to provide our residents with a more secure identification document. As of January 1, 2010, Floridians renewing or obtaining a new driver license or identification card are required to show proof of 1)Identification, 2) Social Security number, and 3) two items of residential address.
